Stillness Practices

Ambient Hiss Immersion

Auditory / Sound-Based

A practice that uses continuous, static background noise (like white, pink, or brown noise) to create a sound barrier for your mind. It is ideal for masking sharp, startling noises in loud office settings.

Instructions

  1. Put on headphones: Put on comfortable noise-canceling headphones or earbuds.

  2. Play ambient static: Turn on a steady loop of white, pink, or deep brown noise at a moderate volume.

  3. Drop your chin slightly: Sit in an easy chair, close your eyes, and let your head bow slightly forward.

  4. Merge with the sound: Imagine your mind is merging with the steady, endless hiss of the audio stream.

  5. Let thoughts slip away: Let individual thoughts get completely drowned out and washed away by the static frequency.

  6. Sit for 5 minutes: Remain physically locked in stillness for 5 minutes under the audio blanket.
