Stillness Practices

Mental Storage Locker

Cognitive / Thought-Based

A boundary-setting visualization that helps professionals compartmentalize and lock away work stress at the end of the day so they can be fully present at home.

Instructions

  1. Imagine a heavy locker: Close your eyes and visualize a massive, secure metal storage locker with a strong lock.

  2. Unpack your workspace: Picture yourself taking all your open emails, deadlines, and project files out of your head.

  3. Stack them inside: Mentally place all those work items neatly inside the metal locker shelves.

  4. Shut the door flat: Swing the heavy door closed and imagine a satisfying, loud click as it seals shut.

  5. Turn the key tight: Turn the mental key to lock it completely, knowing those items are safe until tomorrow morning.

  6. Walk away clean: Take a deep breath, leave the key behind, and enjoy your work-free evening.
